School Safety Advocacy Council

The Recognized Leader in School Safety

Who is the School Safety Advocacy Council

Independent Expertise. Proven Experience. Safer Schools.

The School Safety Advocacy Council (SSAC) is the recognized national leader in school safety consulting, training, assessments, and emergency management. Established in 2004, the Council was founded to move school safety beyond a single-discipline response and toward a coordinated, all-stakeholder approach that brings together education, law enforcement, emergency management, public safety, and community leadership.

For more than twenty years, SSAC has helped K–12 systems of every size and setting strengthen safety, security, preparedness, and response. Our experience includes districtwide facility assessments, policy and procedure review, emergency planning, customized training, leadership guidance, and technology-informed safety strategy. We have successfully supported some of the nation’s largest school systems—including Los Angeles Unified School District, Clark County School District, and Wake County Public Schools—as well as rural districts, charter schools, faith-based schools, specialized schools, and individual campuses. We have provided school safety subject-matter expertise for U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and National Institute of Justice initiatives. Through our partnership with the FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA), we have delivered active school shooting prevention and leadership training nationwide that strengthens coordination between school administrators and public safety executives.

We are unaffiliated with any security product, manufacturer, integrator, or vendor. That independence is central to our mission: our recommendations are driven by risk, operational need, proven practice, school culture, and available resources—not by a product sale. We recognize the value that solution providers can bring, but believe that standards, assessments, and best-practice recommendations must remain free from commercial influence. This enables us to identify practical, cost-conscious improvements and to recommend technology only when it genuinely supports a school’s broader safety strategy.

Why Communities Choose SSAC

  • > Objective recommendations: Independent of product sales and commercial influence.
  • > Depth of experience: More than two decades serving diverse school communities nationwide.
  • > Whole-system perspective: Facilities, people, policies, procedures, training, technology, and emergency response evaluated together.
  • > Customized solutions: Recommendations aligned to each organization’s risks, culture, operations, priorities, and budget.
  • > Actionable outcomes: Clear priorities and practical strategies that leaders can understand, fund, implement, and sustain.
Our approach is simple: no single product or effort creates a safe school. Lasting safety comes from informed leadership, coordinated stakeholders, sound procedures, well-trained people, and intelligently integrated systems. SSAC brings the independent judgment and real-world experience required to help every school build a safer, more prepared, and more resilient learning environment.
